Elgris implements rooftop solar using the following structures
EPC or capex model
under EPC or capex model, the investor owns the asset, and invests upfront in the project. Typically, the investor also arranges debt financing for the project. Elgris executes EPC, and takes care of operations and maintenance on contracted annual charges.
RESCO model
Under RESCO model, Elgris owns and operates the project. The electricity generated is supplied to consumers at contracted tariff. A slight variation is RESCO (opex) model, where the consumer owns equity shareholding of 26% in the project under Group Captive scheme. All other responsibilities belong to Elgris – viz. debt financing, remaining equity financing, O&M et al.
BOT model
Elgris has introduced an innovative model in the solar rooftop space. Elgris builds, operates, and then finally transfers the generating assets after 10 years. The tariff and AMC are fixed for 10 years period. Elgris also furnishes a PBG of 5% of the project value. The asset is transferred free of any liabilities to the user, who can use the facility for 15-20 years of the remaining life. The tariff covers returns, O&M costs, cost of financing, and repayment of debt et al. The tariff is typically INR 3 per unit.
